2020 rings in 50 years of life for me. This birthday feels bigger than any other. A semi-centurion, quinquagenarian, 5 decades…no matter what you call 50 years, it’s a heck of a lot of time on Earth.
My mom died 7 years before she turned 50. Back when I was 18 I thought, “Well she was lucky to have lived such a long life.” Wow was I wrong. She missed the years that were going to be hers.
There is so much I’m fortunate to be a part of. I’m a mom, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a niece, a cousin, a friend, a colleague. All of these relationships I am to others. So who am I to me? 50 is begging for that answer.
As I celebrate turning 50, I will focus on my #OneWord2020 “self”. Being the best version of me. Living my best life. Committed to my body, mind, and soul. I will challenge my 50 year old me. Sometimes my needs will come first. I will question what’s important. I will celebrate what I have become, who I am, and what I have left to accomplish.
Self. Bring It- 2020.
